Monday, April 16, 2012 - The EHR Incentive Program includes “Hearing screening prior to hospital discharge (EHDI-1a)" as one of the Clinical Quality measures proposed for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals beginning with FY 2014, complete EHR Incentive Program referenced here (see table 9 NQF # 1354).
The measure is proposed for the “Clinical Process/Effectiveness” domain. Your facilities can communicate births to the public health EHDI program by using the Newborn Admission Notification Interface (NANI). The NANI tool will support this clinical quality measure.

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - As part of a national effort, the Ministry of Health of Guanajuato, Mexico, will start using OZ Systems’ health information management solutions to provide secure, cloud-based data administration and case management support for the state’s newborn hearing screening program.
It is estimated that of every 100,000 babies born worldwide, 300 will have hearing loss. Mexico is no exception. Children with hearing loss will likely have difficulty developing spoken language, which may impact their educational and social development.
Wednesday September 21, 2011 - AMCHP hosted a webinar on September 21, 2011 in partnership with OZ Systems titled, "Making Healthcare Information Technology Meaningful for Maternal and Child Health." Presenters included Bob Bowman of the Indiana State Department of Health, John Eichwald of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, and Terese Finitzo of OZ Systems.
The presenters discussed the application of health information technology to MCH practice using several real-world examples. The goal was to share some emerging practices in health IT with MCH professionals nationwide. Expert presentation was complemented by discussion among participants.
