OZ Systems Demos Public Health EDI at HIMSS Conference

Dallas, Texas – February 13, 2005 – OZ Systems demonstrated a prototypic 21st Century Health Care System for interoperability across clinical and public health systems at the 2005 Annual HIMSS Conference.

OZ Systems as a member of the Public Health Data Standards Consortium, collaborated with Oracle, Scientific Technologies Corporation, Medical Decision Logic., and the National Center for Health Statistics to demonstrate electronic data interchange between OZ Systems’ web-based eSP™ system used by public health programs across the country and other clinical applications.

“This demonstration brought together powerful thought leaders and product innovators to lead industry opinion on solutions to integrate data standards through collaboration,” said OZ Systems CEO, Ken Pool.

The prototype:

  • Illustrates how interoperability between healthcare systems can be achieved with a standards-based infrastructure
  • Is built upon existing systems in clinical care and public health programs
  • Enables electronic data reporting from a clinical setting to multiple public health systems
  • Enables translation of customized standards into HL7 version 3.0 messaging standard
  • Links clinical and public health systems to provide a continuous view of the patient record across the systems involved

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of human health.
