Iowa Department of Public Health Renews Contract with OZ Systems
Des Moines, IA –October, 2005 – The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) renewed its existing contract with OZ Systems today. Under a state law enacted in 2004, the IDPH launched a statewide Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program to dramatically improve the long-term cognitive and social outcomes for babies born with hearing loss. The law requires birthing facilities to screen newborns for hearing loss prior to hospital discharge.
IDPH is partnering with the industry's leader in EHDI information management to assure services are delivered efficiently. Following a competitive procurement, IDPH selected OZ Systems initially in 2004 to provide its web-based software, called eScreenerPlusTM (eSPTM), to 89 birthing facilities statewide. Hospitals are using eSPTM to manage their screening programs and to report data to the State.
The web-based eSP™ system assures health and intervention providers are equipped with timely, patient-level information to facilitate care delivery. eSP™ makes an integrated child hearing health record accessible to public health and medical professionals and maintains it with updated and comprehensive data in a highly secure environment. The right information is available at the right time and to the right person to improve patient care and program processes.
"OZ Systems has forged successful partnerships with public health for years. We are proud to have been selected by the State of Iowa to provide hospitals with our products and services," said OZ Systems CEO, Dr. Ken Pool. IDPH was awarded federal funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to acquire a comprehensive web-based data collection system for its EHDI program.
