OZ Systems Steps Up Engagement with Newborn Screening

Dallas, Texas – June, 2007 – Every year, the health and well-being of more than one million babies born on three continents is protected by the information management systems and tracking applications developed by OZ Systems of Dallas, Texas and Geneva, Switzerland.

Originally focused on using information systems to help screen the hearing of newborns, connect infants to follow-up services and manage service delivery, OZ Systems as a software developer and specialized service provider, recently expanded its focus to include bloodspot-based newborn screening for metabolic, endocrine, hemoglobin and other genetic disorders.

As part of increased engagement in newborn screening, OZ Systems participated in the annual symposium on newborn screening and genetic testing of the American Public Health Laboratories organization in May in Minneapolis with two posters and an exhibit.

In July, OZ Systems will present a workshop on newborn screening for consumer advocates at the annual conference of Genetic Alliance in Washington, DC. The workshop will be a case study of development and implementation of an enhanced newborn screening application for the Alaska Division of Public Health. OZ Systems is integrating a newborn genetic and metabolic screening component to the newborn hearing screening application it has been providing to Alaska since 2005.

In August, OZ Systems will participate in the 6th Asia Pacific Regional meeting on newborn screening of the International Society for Neonatal Screening in Singapore.
